We engage experienced practitioners for both full-time employment and project-based contract roles, depending on the award and staffing model. Engagements are remote-first with travel as required for partner and field sites. We build ready teams for live grant and sponsored-research pursuits — not speculative staffing banks.

This opportunity is contingent upon grant or sponsored-project award and final staffing approval. Permission will be requested before including a candidate's name or resume in a proposal or funding package.

WIL is seeking a Veterans Justice Programs Specialist to design and deliver training, technical assistance, and program-improvement support for justice-involved veterans — including diversion, treatment courts, reentry, behavioral-health linkages, and veteran-serving partnerships — as applied research and TTA capacity for WIL grant packages.

What you'll do

  • Assess veterans justice program needs across courts, corrections, behavioral health, and veteran-serving partners
  • Design and deliver TTA, curricula, and implementation coaching for veterans treatment courts, diversion, and reentry models
  • Help partners strengthen screening, case coordination, peer support, and connections to VA and community resources
  • Develop practical tools, performance measures, and knowledge products for the field
  • Contribute specialist qualifications and past-performance narrative to WIL grant and sponsored-research packages when permissioned

Requirements

  • Required:
  • Demonstrated experience with veterans justice, veterans treatment courts, justice-involved veterans programs, or closely related reentry and diversion work
  • Experience delivering training or technical assistance to justice, behavioral-health, or veteran-serving partners
  • Strong facilitation, curriculum or toolkit development, and written-deliverable skills
  • Open to full-time employment or project-based contract engagement; remote-first with travel as partner and field work requires

Nice to have

  • Direct experience with VA partnerships, Veterans Justice Outreach, or peer-support models for justice-involved veterans
  • Familiarity with federal justice TTA and national center models
  • Prior engagements you can cite (agency/partner, your role, year)
