Position: Tool and Die Maker
This role is ideal for skilled professionals looking to expand their expertise in precision manufacturing and work alongside experienced tool and die makers.
Job Responsibilities
- Tool & Die Work
- · Construct, alter, and repair tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges to close tolerances.
- · Develop fabrication strategies for designed dies using suitable machining resources.
- Machine Operations
- · Set up and operate machine tools including:
- o Lathes
- o Milling machines
- o Shapers
- o Grinders
- · Machine parts according to engineering specifications.
- Blueprint & Design Interpretation
- · Study and interpret:
- o Engineering blueprints
- o Tool orders
- o Technical specifications
- o Drawings and sketches
- · Prepare layout and detail drawings.
- · Create preliminary sketches when required.
- Quality & Safety
- · Meet production quality and efficiency standards.
- · Follow all workplace safety regulations.
- · Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education
- · Minimum 4 years of high school or vocational school education.
- · Apprenticeship completion is considered an advantage.
- Experience
- · Minimum 3 years of related Tool and Die Maker experience.
Technical Skills
- · Ability to read and write English.
- · Ability to interpret:
- o Engineering specifications
- o Operative sheets
- o Technical drawings
- o Sketches
- · Strong mathematical aptitude including:
- o Shop mathematics
- o Geometry
- o Trigonometry
- · Experience working with:
- o Close dimensional tolerances
- o Precision measuring instruments
- · Knowledge of machine shop practices and operations.
