About this role

Superintendent – Sewer & Water

Taggart Construction Limited | Ottawa, ON | $115,000–$125,000

Taggart Construction Limited is looking for an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations on sewer, watermain, road reconstruction, and underground infrastructure projects across the Ottawa region.

For more than 75 years, Taggart Construction has helped build the essential infrastructure that supports communities across Eastern Ontario. As part of the Taggart Group, we offer the stability of a long-standing, family-owned business with the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that shape the region.

In this role, you will oversee day-to-day site operations, coordinate crews, Foremen, subcontractors, suppliers, and inspections, and work closely with Project Managers to keep projects moving safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead field operations for municipal sewer, watermain, stormwater, sanitary, road reconstruction, and underground servicing projects.
  • Coordinate labour, equipment, materials, subcontractors, suppliers, utility locates, inspections, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and servicing plans to identify and resolve field issues before they impact schedule, cost, quality, or safety.
  • Mentor Foremen and field staff while building strong working relationships with clients, consultants, municipalities, inspectors, and project teams.

What you bring:

  • At least 5 years of Superintendent experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Proven experience with municipal sewer, watermain, underground servicing, and road reconstruction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, surveying, safety requirements, and field coordination.
  • Effective leadership, communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering Technology or relevant technical training, along with a valid driver’s license.

If you are a hands-on field leader who takes pride in delivering complex infrastructure projects safely and successfully, we would like to hear from you.

Taggart Group of Companies is an equal opportunity employer committed to inclusive, accessible recruitment. Accommodations are available on request throughout the recruitment and selection process.
