Position Summary
- Responsible for overseeing the day-to-operation of the Senior Health Insurance
Program (SHIP) site located at Southern Illinois Healthcare.

Experience and Skills
- Technical Experience: 2 years of experience with Medicare or related field
- Physical Activities
- Intermittent hand manipulation required
- Intermittent lifting and carrying of 20 pounds
Role Specific Responsibilities
- o Coordinates the SHIP program, recruits and oversees the activities of the
- volunteer counselor(s).
- o Maintains SHIP counselor certification and counsels Medicare
beneficiaries with problems and questions about Medicare, Medicare
supplement plans, Medicare Part D, Medicare managed care and long term
care insurance.
o Organizes and assists in filing claims for benefits and processing appeals
to Medicare and Medicare supplement insurance companies.
o Participates in SHIP marketing activities and serves as the Medicare
educator for the Second Act membership programs.
o Assist the SMP staff as needed with member services, grant process, and
special projects.
