About the Role

You'll own lifecycle marketing at Optery end-to-end: email, in-app messaging, and push notifications across the full customer journey. This includes onboarding, activation, engagement, upgrade/cross-sell, renewal, churn prevention, and win-back. This is a senior IC role with full ownership of strategy and execution: you'll design the journeys, build the campaigns, write (or direct) the copy, run the experiments, and report on the results.

What You'll Do

  • Own the lifecycle marketing roadmap: map the customer journey and identify the highest-impact opportunities across activation, conversion, retention, and expansion
  • Build, launch, and iterate on automated campaigns and triggered flows in our marketing automation platform (we use Customer.io; equivalents include Iterable, Braze, or Klaviyo)
  • Own in-app messaging and transactional-adjacent communications in partnership with product and engineering
  • Build and optimize mobile push notification strategy: permission opt-in flows, triggered and campaign-based pushes, frequency capping, and coordination with email so channels complement rather than compete
  • Develop segmentation and personalization strategies using behavioral and account data, including dynamic templating and conditional content logic
  • Run a disciplined experimentation program: A/B tests on sequences, subject lines, timing, and offers, with clear holdouts and measurement
  • Manage email deliverability, list hygiene, and suppression strategy to protect sender reputation
  • Partner with analytics to instrument and measure lifecycle performance (we use Amplitude and connect campaigns to revenue outcomes
  • Collaborate with paid acquisition, product, and support teams so messaging is coordinated across the entire customer experience
  • What We're Looking For
  • -
  • 5+ years of significant hands-on experience owning lifecycle, CRM, retention, or email marketing programs, ideally for a subscription-based service.
  • Fluency in a modern marketing automation platform (e.g., Customer.io, Iterable, Braze, Klaviyo) including segmentation, triggered workflows, and templating languages like Liquid
  • Strong copy instincts: you can write clear, persuasive messaging and know when to test rather than debate
  • Comfort with data: you can define your own metrics, pull your own reports, and interpret results honestly (SQL and product analytics experience are a plus)
  • Understanding of email deliverability fundamentals and compliance (CAN-SPAM, GDPR/CCPA basics)
  • Experienced with AI and actively leveraging it in your current workflows
  • -
  • A builder's mindset: you're energized by owning a function, not just executing tickets
  • Bonus: experience in privacy, security, or consumer subscription products; experience with both B2C and B2B messaging
  • Location

While Optery is a fully-remote global team, this position is based in the United States and is required to work regular U.S. business hours, i.e. in the U.S. Eastern, Central, Mountain, and/or Pacific time zones.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $80K - $90K
  • Great health, dental, and vision insurance

-

401k program with employer match

  • Paid time off policy
