About this role
The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) invites applications for the position of Project Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- The Project Officer will join the team to develop insect-computer hybrid robots control system:
- Design and fabrication of wirelessly controlled sensor-backpack mounting on living insects to (i) electronically stimulate their neurons and muscles to navigate them on demands and (ii) report environmental conditions
- Develop firmware, algorithm, data structure and user interface for sensor-backpack remote control
- Integrate customized algorithm in insect computer hybrid robot operation and test the operation of sensor-backpack on living insect

Requirements
- Degree in Mechatronics/ Robotics/ Electrical and Electronics/ Computer Engineering
- Experience in PCB design and fabrication
- Experience in C/C++ programming for embedded system
- Experience in real time operating system development
- Experience in wireless communication (BLE, Sub-Ghz, UWB, etc …) is advantageous
- Experience in C#, Java, JavaScript, Python is advantageous
- Knowledge and experience in insect anatomy and physiology is advantageous
