Role Overview

We are seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to join our team in Burnaby or Tralee.

This role combines Java back-end development, React front-end development, and thoughtful adoption of AI technologies within our product suite.

You will participate in the design, implementation, maintenance, and evolution of our systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and compliance.

First 12–24 Months: Deep Product Learning via Support & QA

To become effective in our highly integrated and regulated environment, new engineers spend their first 1–2 years building strong product and domain knowledge. During this period, you will:

• Work closely with Support to investigate, reproduce, and resolve production issues
• Contribute to QA activities, including reviewing test plans and validating new features
• Participate in root-cause analysis and deliver corrective code fixes
• Develop a deep understanding of the CORE platform, its services, data flows, regulatory requirements, integrations, and operational workflows

This onboarding phase ensures you develop end-to-end ownership and can contribute confidently to large-scale platform development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable back-end services using Java
• Build and enhance user-facing applications using React
• Integrate and evaluate AI-driven solutions responsibly and critically
• Participate in software architecture decisions and technical design
• Ensure application performance, security, and regulatory compliance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including QA, Support, DevOps, and Product
• Contribute to system monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational improvements
• Engage in code reviews and maintain high engineering standards
• Support continuous delivery processes and improvements to CI/CD pipelines

Required Qualifications

- Strong critical thinking, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills

• Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and professional maturity
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent
• 2+ years of Java back-end development experience
• 2+ years working with SQL (MSSQL), Kafka, and Redis
• Solid understanding of software design patterns and Event-Driven Architecture
• Ability to prioritize and manage workload in high-pressure environments
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
• Hands-on experience with AI tools, frameworks, or model integrations
• Proficiency with React for front-end development

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in CSS for advanced UI/UX improvements
• Experience integrating with third-party or external engineering teams
• Familiarity with AWS and Docker
• Experience working in Agile environments with CI/CD
• Knowledge of JIRA and Confluence for tracking and documentation
