About the role
We're building a small, focused execution pod inside Growth Marketing to ship visibility experiments across AI answer engines, community platforms, and third-party listicles. This role is one of three on the pod. You'll work directly with our growth director and our GEO/AEO lead, alongside an ABM/Paid specialist and an SEO specialist.
GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is the work of getting a brand surfaced in AI-generated answers — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Google AI Overviews, and others — and in the community conversations and listicles those engines pull from. It's a new, fast-moving discipline that combines SEO instincts, content creation, and community work.
This is an execution role. You'll be measured on what you ship and where the brand shows up — not on slide decks or strategy frameworks. If you're curious about how LLMs surface answers and want to be early in a new field, you'll thrive here.
What you'll do
- Build presence in AI answer engines
- Create and optimize content engineered to surface in LLM responses — question-led pages, comparison pages, etc.
- Track where the brand appears (and doesn't) across major AI surfaces and report on coverage trends in specific products (video).
- Identify high-intent prompts we should be visible for, and ship the supporting content.
- Ship two pieces of work per day on average — content, live community insertions, or successful listicle outreach.
- Get included in third-party lists and reviews
- Outreach for inclusion in industry listicles, review sites, and category roundups.
- Manage and grow our presence on G2, Capterra, TrustRadius, and similar platforms in collaboration with the internal team.
- Build relationships with analyst-style writers and journalists publishing in the category.
- Show up in community conversations
- Participate authentically in Reddit, Quora, Hacker News, and other community discussions where the brand should be in the conversation.
- Identify high-traffic threads where competitors are mentioned and we're not — and change that.
- Build a presence that's helpful first and promotional second. (Communities will sniff out anything else.)
- Track and report what's working
- Log every experiment in the team tracker.
- Monitor AI visibility weekly across the tools we use to measure it.
- Write short async recaps on what moved coverage, what didn't, and why.
Who you are
- You ship
- One to three years of hands-on content, SEO, community management, or PR execution experience — agency, in-house, or freelance.
- You've personally written content, run outreach, and posted in communities — not just managed someone else who did.
- You move fast. You're comfortable trying things, measuring, and iterating.
- You're fluent in AI and community
- You use LLMs daily and have an intuition for how they pull answers.
- You're comfortable on Reddit, Hacker News, Quora, or comparable communities — you read the room before you post.
- Bonus: familiarity with AI visibility tracking tools (Profound, Goodie, AthenaHQ, or similar).
- You write well
- Strong written English. You can write content that sounds human, ranks, and gets quoted by AI answer engines.
- Direct, clear, and brief in writing. We don't reward long emails.
- Comfortable working asynchronously across time zones.
- You want to be measured on output
- You'd rather ship and learn than plan and wait.
- You want a role with clear weekly targets and visible outcomes.
- You're comfortable with feedback loops that are fast and direct.
- What success looks like
After 90 days, a strong contributor in this role will have shipped a consistent volume of content, community posts, and outreach, materially increased the brand's visibility across major AI answer engines, and generated qualified inbound from AI and community sources.
- We'll define specific targets together in week one — but the shape is: shipped volume, AI coverage lift, and qualified inbound.
